Global Mobility Compliance Specialist (Americas)
Are you a Global Mobility Compliance Specialist ready to take your career to the next level? Join WorkFlex, a fast-growing European startup, and make an impact from day one!
➡️ About the role
Successful businesses think globally – but complex compliance challenges create significant barriers to global operations, forcing teams to spend vast amounts of time, money, and energy on administration instead of strategic priorities.
Traditional compliance approaches are too slow, vague, and expensive for modern business dynamics. That's why we've built the platform that automates compliance and duty of care for business travel, workations, and international assignments.
Our vision: A world where global business knows no borders – where compliance is effortless, so growth has no limits.
Your role in this mission: We're looking for a Global Mobility Compliance Specialist to own the US and broader Americas region. You'll translate US federal and state tax, payroll, social security, employment law, and immigration requirements into practical frameworks that power our compliance automation platform — and you'll build the on-the-ground network of local partners that makes fast, compliant execution possible across the region.
This is a hybrid subject-matter-expert and relationship-building role: half regulatory translation and product logic, half building and managing a trusted bench of local experts across the US, Canada, Mexico, and Latin America.
🎯 What you will do
Translate US and Americas-region tax, payroll, social security (including Totalization Agreements), employment law, and immigration requirements into practical compliance frameworks and decision logic for WorkFlex's platform
Apply hands-on knowledge of US visa categories (B-1/B-2 business travel, H-1B, L-1, TN, O-1) and cross-border assignment rules across Canada, Mexico, and Latin America
Map assignment-related compliance topics: state-by-state payroll tax nexus, worker classification, I-9/E-Verify obligations, and short-term business traveler risk
Build and validate cost projections and balance-sheet approaches for US and Americas-based assignments
Build, vet, and manage a network of local partners across the region — immigration attorneys, tax advisors, payroll providers, and EOR/PEO partners — to support compliant, fast assignment execution
Act as the go-to Americas compliance expert for clients and internal teams, keeping guidance current with federal, state, and regional regulatory change
Continuously refine WorkFlex's automated global mobility processes based on regulatory updates and partner network feedback
⭐ What you need to succeed
3+ years in Global Mobility, US immigration/tax compliance, or international HR, with hands-on assignment experience from a policy, compliance, analytics, or process perspective
Working knowledge of US visa categories and the Americas regulatory landscape; familiarity with Canada, Mexico, or Latin America a strong plus
A track record of building and managing relationships with external partners or vendors — you know how to vet a good immigration attorney or payroll provider and keep the relationship productive
Strong analytical skills and a genuine interest in automation and systems thinking
Fluent English; Spanish or Portuguese a plus given the regional scope
A structured, independent working style with an ownership mentality, comfortable balancing accuracy, pragmatism, and speed in a client-facing environment
Based in the United States, able to work across US time zones
